W&A REPORTS

[ORLANDO, FL]—December 31, 2017—Word and Action, Inc. (W&A) –For the past 10 years, it has become a tradition for W&A to organize trips to Haiti and celebrate Christmas with the children there. Out of all the previous years the 2017 Christmas Trip was a special one. It was different because we were privileged to be in the midst of children of a community that embraced us as family. It is the place where W&A aims to build its Psychotherapeutic and Youth Development Center, which would be the very first of its kind in the entire country of Haiti. A place where traumatized children could come and safely reclaim their stolen innocence and be healed. Dubré, a “section communal” of Milôt, northern Haiti is where some of our most significant actions are taking place, which will positively impact hundreds of children.

[ORLANDO, FL]—June 22, 2017—Word and Action, Inc. (W&A)—It was reported that out of the nine million of the inhabitants of Haiti close to half of them are children (Balsari, Lemery, Williams, & Nelson, 2010).  Child protection has been a major challenge for Haitian authorities.

On November 11, 2016 a Word and Action (W&A) team travelled to Port-Salut, Southern Haiti for a preliminary assessment trip. The main purpose of this trip was to explore ways to organize our upcoming Humanitarian/ Healthcare trip while bringing needed relief to the people who have been affected by hurricane Mathew.

This year, W&A was able to implement its child sexual abuse prevention initiative through a series of conferences and trainings in Florida. More than ten different conferences and seminars were hosted by W&A in the counties of Miami-Dade and Broward.

Our long-term goal is to build a psychotherapeutic center in Haiti where sexually abused and exploited children could thrive and regain themselves.

In October 26, 2011, Executive Director George Bossous, Jr. addressed (and received support) from both chambers of the Youth Parliament on child trafficking legislation; a historical occurrence since organizations are rarely allowed this privilege.
